Unlike other training centers, here at NY ATTC, we invite only the best of the best trainers in the country to come in and present their classes. Each instructor is an expert in their specialty. Armed with their extensive research, resources and personal hands on experience, they are the best of the best and their goal here is to provide you with the knowledge and confidence needed to properly diagnose and repair the most sophisticated cars on the road today. Here are just some of our many brilliant trainers.

 

 

BOB STARR: Bob is a former shop owner, technician & mechanic with 41 years in the automotive industry He is ASE L1 certified, and has numerous OEM and aftermarket training certification.Bob started his own independent automotive training center nationally known as NYATTP (New York Automotive Technician Training Program) where he specializes in training all of the former New York state certification programs, along with new technologies.

 Bob uses his real world experience of being a shop owner, technician, mechanic and trainer to tackle some of the most hair-pulling issues that this in­dustry faces today. Some of the items addressed in his course include… Computerized diagnostics, new vehicle systems, technician training and diagnostic equipment, and shop management & profits, just to name a few! This has allowed NYATTP to become one of New York’s premier automotive training facilities! Be forewarned Bob is not known for being subtle or politically correct!

 

 

Robbie Addison: joined the Automotive Service Association (ASA) in 1995 as an administrative assistant in the Membership Department. She moved to the Mechanical Division in 1997 and was promoted to Mechanical Division Manager in 2005. As the division manager, she works directly with the elected division director and is responsible for the activities and communication of the mechanical division operations committee. She and the committee are dedicated to meeting the needs and achieving goals that benefit the ASA mechanical members and the automotive service and repair industry.

 

 

 

 

Mike Cleary: An eight time award winning Ford Motor Company Certified Senior Master Technician and Powerstroke Engine Specialist. He has served on two separate Ford Technician Advisory Boards, and was recognized by Ford Motor Company for his contributions to Ford as a field technician involved in improving the 6.0L Powerstroke Engine Program. He is an ASE Certified Master Technician in both the Automobile and Heavy Truck categories, as well as being L1 and L2 Certified. He is also certified by the state of California as an Advanced Emission Specialist Technician, and has a Bachelor of Science Degree in Industrial Technology from California State University, Fresno.

He currently owns his own shop, Cleary Automotive, specializing in high tech driveability and electronics repairs on Powerstroke Engine Systems, having worked on Powerstroke vehicles daily since their release in the mid 1994 model year. He also provides high tech driveability and electronics training for technicians worldwide for his training company, Automotive Technical Support Services.

 

 

Wayne Colonna: President of ATSG. Wayne started his career in the transmission industry after attending the Lincoln Technical Institute in 1975. He has been a rebuilder for franchise shops in the New Jersey and New York area, and brings to ATSG over 26 years of experience. He is also the Technical Editor of Transmission Digest.

 

 

 

 

 
Paul DeGuiseppi: Paul has been working in the automotive service industry for 25 years. He has served as MACS Worldwide’s Manager of Service Training since November, 1997. Prior to joining MACS, Paul was employed as a service training instructor for a major vehicle manufacturer, as an instructor at a post-secondary automotive training school, and an auto repair manual editor. Paul worked as an auto repair technician for 8 years before embarking on his career in automotive information and training. Paul is an ASE-certified Master Auto Technician with L1, and holds various other ASE certifications in the Collision Repair, Medium/Heavy Truck and Service Consultant categories. Paul is a member of the Council of Advanced Automotive Trainers (CAAT), the International Automotive Technician’s Network (IATN), the International Motor Press Association (IMPA), and the National Corvette Restorers Society (NCRS).

 

 

Rick Escalambre: AKA (Monitor man) Earned his Bachelor of Arts in Industrial Arts from San Francisco State University. He has been a Professor of Automotive Technology at Skyline College in San Bruno, CA. for the past twenty-three years. In addition to teaching Engine Performance related subjects, he coordinates one of the largest and finest automotive programs in the State of California. Rick previously taught automotive at a local high school, managed a Chevron Service Station, and has owned and operated a general automotive repair business in Concord, CA. For the last nine years, he has been Chairperson for the Bureau of Automotive Repair Smog Check Education Advisory Committee. He is a past president of the California Automotive Teachers (CAT) association. He is a respected author and editor of books in the field of Engine Performance, Emissions, and Computer Controls and has done extensive research of OBD II system operation & diagnosis, MODE 6, and Evaporative Emission Systems.

 

 

Dominic Felix: AKA "The EURO GENIUS”  trains European and hybrid vehicle technology for “Automotive Forensics Systems.” He owns his own shop in Los Angeles, and troubleshoots difficult vehicles on-site for other European specialty repair shops. He is known as the person to go to with the vehicles that “no one can fix.” He also has experience as a machinist and Porsche racing mechanic. Dominic is certified with the State of California as an advanced emissions instructor.

 

 

 

Vince Fischelli: founded VEEJER ENTERPRISES in 1985 to bring electrical/electronics troubleshooting training to the vehicle service industry through books, workshops, seminars and clinics. He is the former manager of GM’s ECM Rebuilding Facility and AC-Delco’s Digital Dash Repair facility in Dallas, Texas. He is a graduate of seven electronics schools and has 50 years of experience in electronics with the last 40 years devoted to working and training in the vehicle service industry. He is the author of 16 technical books, a 60 lesson home-study course and a four part hands-on electrical troubleshooting training program.

 

 

 

 

John Forro: An A.S.E. Master certified automobile technician with  L-1 Advanced Engine Performance certification as well. John has authored 12 Automotive manuals to date, produced several automotive training videos appeared in many of the industry trade magazines and won the Motor Top 20 tool award for Silver Bullets.  John is also certified in heavy duty truck, A/C Recovery, body mechanical, State emissions and is also one of the State’s lemon-law inspectors...  John has been and continues to be a full time working automotive instructor and technician, which enables him to relate to the students needs as technicians.  John has taught for several of the Nation’s leading companies such as Snap-on, Firestone, Mac, OTC, A/C Delco, Federated, Midas, NAPA, ATA, ASA, ASC STS, LTS, CARS and many others. John is extremely proud of AST and is committed to its first rate reputation which he feels will only be maintained by providing the highest standard training classes and materials along with customer satisfaction that is unsurpassed by any other in our industry!

 

 

Bill Haas: joined the Automotive Service Association national staff in 2000 and currently serves as the Vice President of Education and Training. During his time with ASA, Bill served the association in several positions. In his current position, Bill focuses on improving the educational and training opportunities available to ASA mechanical and collision repair professionals. Bill has been involved in the automotive industry for over 33 years and is a frequent speaker at industry events.

 

Jim Halderman: brings a world of experience, knowledge, and talent to his work. His automotive service experience includes working as a flat-rate technician, a business owner, and a professor of automotive technology at a leading U.S. community college for more than 20 years.

He has a Bachelor of Science Degree from Ohio Northern University and a Masters Degree in Education from Miami University in Oxford, Ohio. Jim also holds a U.S. Patent for an electronic transmission control device. He is an ASE certified Master Automotive Technician and Advanced Engine Performance (L1) ASE certified.

Jim is the author of many automotive textbooks all published by Pearson Prentice Hall Publishing Company.

 

 

Dave Hobbs: aka “Mc Gyver” has been diagnosing difficult vehicle electronic problems since the 1970’s. As a major OEM supplier hotline adviser and technical trainer, Dave has trained technicians as well as factory engineers worldwide for more than 20 years. ASE Master & L1 certified, a frequent trainer at national seminars and instructor in numerous automotive training videos, Dave is well known for bringing the most advanced complex systems down to earth for the everyday tech.

 

 

 

Dan Marinucci: An ASE-certified technician and technical writer who has reported on the automotive repair industry since 1976.  For the past 20 years he has written the Foreign Service column for MOTOR Magazine, and for the past 20 years he has written the Automotive Service opinion column for Crain’s TIRE BUSINESS. Specializing in Japanese driveability and generic electrical testing, Dan developed and has presented seminars on these topics since 1993.  

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

John P. Myers: John has been in the automotive industry for 25+ years and employed by two of the top Tier I and Tier II OE automotive parts manufacturers. Within those years he has turned a wrench or two, and has been developing training curriculum and instructing in the automotive field for the past twenty years. The last twelve years Johns’ focus has been on developing automotive brake training courses; which encompasses everything from basic brake functions to ABS, Traction Control, and Electronic Stability Programs. He has also been involved with the Train the Trainer program, for new and experienced instructors in the automotive field and has trained OE manufacturer and aftermarket sales forces. John believes in a training environment which allows interaction between the instructor and participants. That means everyone attending a training course should leave the session with knowledgeable information that he can utilize on their job to increase profits, which equates to more money in your pockets.

 

 

Jack Rosebro:  aka “Mr. Hybrid” has taught advanced vehicle technology for more than twenty years. He teaches throughout North America and Europe. Techs from independent shops, fleets, and dealerships have attended this fast-paced seminar and come away with a new level of confidence.

Al Santini: AKA:  "The Sailor” has been in the industry for over 42 years. He is a member of North American Council of Automotive Teachers and a member of Illinois College Automotive Instructors Association. He is presently an independent trainer primarily working with various State Emission Programs as a seminar presenter. OBD-II diagnosis and repair seminars are his specialties along with training to identify methods of testing and repair of monitor setting failures with the ultimate goal of getting the vehicle passed. Al is the author of numerous electrical & electronics textbooks for Cengage Learning.

 

 

 

Allen Soohoo: Allen started in the computer industry as a Dell repair technician before getting involved in the automotive industry. As an ASE Master technician, L1 Advanced Engine Performance Specialist, and certified service consultant, he is the owner of a consulting company, Blue Flame Systems; and is currently a full time instructor at Apex Technical school, a leading technical school for entry level technicians in New York City.

 

 

 

Chuck Kennedy:Technical Training Manager. Bendix Friction Materials
Chuck has been involved in the automotive and light duty truck industry for 30 years. During this time he has been a technician in independent shops and associated with large aftermarket manufacturers of parts and under-car service equipment. During the past 15 years with these companies he has been a technical instructor in Brakes and ABS systems, steering and suspension, alignment, vibration control, tire and wheel servicing. Being part of Bendix Friction Materials, his focus is to provide Automotive and Light Duty Truck technical training. Currently Chuck is also managing the Bendix Answerman Technical Hotline and Ask Bendix emails from customers, technicians, and end users.
 

 

Dave Buckshaw: aka “The Calibrator” Dave has over 25 years of electronic fuel injection experience. He is the former owner of Digital High Performance, an automotive fuel injection software company that specialized in reprogramming GM computers for performance use. Dave now heads up the training development department of the Autolite electrical group. His knowledge and experience as a fuel systems calibration engineer brings us his database to unlock some of the industries inside mystery behind the MIL light!  

 

 

 

 

 

Ronald J. Henningsen aka “Mr. Undercar” Technical editor of Undercar Digest Magazine, Founder and owner of Undercar Specialists Ron’s specialty is in the areas of Car & Truck Wheel alignment, Suspension & Chassis Service, Anti-Lock Brakes and Electronic Undercar Service Areas. Technical consultant to several major aftermarket companies over the last 20 years. 12 years as editor of Brake Tech Talk and Alignment Tech Talk published by MD Publications. 10 years as technical writer for several aftermarket companies technical and product bulletins. Engineering product consultant to a major aftermarket manufacturer.
